Draper Girls Country Farm
Specializing in Non-Pasteurized Apple Cider & U-Pick Produce
Our Story
Draper Girls’ Country Farm sits just below the base of Mt. Hood, along Highway Thirty-Five in Parkdale, Oregon. A women-owned business, the Draper Girls--Theresa, Rachel, Crystal and Stefanie--inherited the farm from Roman Braun, Theresa's father, who started the 40-acre orchard and family farm in 1962.
Since then, some things have changed: Roman began to devote more and more of the land to fruit trees, which he found grew well in the elevations above the Hood River Valley. Roman practiced environmental good stewardship, and the Draper Girls continue to farm with that environmental consciousness in mind. Converting even more of their acreage to orchard, the Draper Girls now grow fruit on over 3o acres and have introduced regional favorites like Honey Crisp apples and Forelle pears. The Draper Girls sell their renouned non-pasteurized apple, pear, and cherry ciders year-round at the farm and, over the last several years, at farmer's markets around the greater Portland area. At several Portland-area restaurants, pies featuring Draper Girls' fruit have become menu favorites. U-pick customers have long enjoyed the farm experience at Draper Girls' Country Farm, picking tree fruit and berries in season.
When Roman first started the farm, he maintained a small flock of livestock for family consumption, and in recent years the Draper Girls have expanded that aspect of the farm as well, now selling lamb, pork and eggs. The animals are free-range, grass- and fruit-fed.
With fewer than ten employees, the Draper Girls' Country Farm is truly a family farm with a commitment to raising the best possible produce for its customers.
Who we are:
Rachel graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Portland and then on to University of Portland where she played basketball for the Pilots. She is now a history teacher in the Portland Unified School district. Rachel is the behind the scenes girl, she runs all of the farmers markets in the Portland Metro area.
Crystal graduated from Hood River Valley High School and then went on to Oregon State University where she played softball for the Beavers. Her softball adventures guided her to Arizona where she now resides with her husband Joe and their two boxers. She went back to school to pursue her dream of becoming a Hair and Make-up artist and now works as a stylist in Tempe. She continues to help with the family business doing the small things that Theresa doesn't have time to do.
Stefanie graduated from Hood River Valley High School and is currently at Oregon State University studying Equine Science. She has always been the small town girl who has an enormous heart for animals, especially horses. She hopes to do an internship in Kentucky on a horse farm her last year of school. Stefanie was just able to start helping more on the farm this past summer.
